Brain Power Academy Mental Arithmetic Program (BPAMAP)

Children from St. Jacob's English Medium School, Krishnanagar, West Tambaram, Chennai participating in a competition

Brain Power Academy (BPA) has revolutionized the teaching of Mental Arithmetic Program using abacus in order to reach all the students, rich and poor. Also to make transparent of the teaching, the school teachers, with whom the students and parents are in constant touch, are entrusted with the teaching, instead of an instructor of the organization, whose credibility cannot be ascertained. In addition, the teaching is made very simple so that the parents can understand and study the progress of their children at any point of time. The children are not forced to memorize any formula and each and every step is explained with reason.

HIGHLIGHTS

Children – our tomorrow

  • Education plays a pivotal role in development

  • But does academic brilliance mean overall development?

  • Need for supplementary education that helps develop and shape children

  • Driven by its philosophy that ‘kids are innate geniuses’, BPA attempts to serve as a springboard for development with its unique Abacus aided Mental Arithmetic Program (MAP)

  • The program is targeted at children in the age group of 6-14 and helps boost:

Creative and imaging skills

Memory, speed and accuracy

Listening

Concentration

About 85% brain development takes place during age 6-14 years.

At the heart of the program is arithmetic, so is it all about maths skills? NO

  • Arithmetic is just a means to an end – which is imaging skills, concentration and so on. This is done by the use of Abacus, the magic tool

  • BPA MAP is not subject oriented

  • 90% of us use our left-brain only.

  • Scientists & artists who use their right brain also are known to be creative, unique, different & successful.

  • With the BPA program, children are trained to use their right brain (seat of creativity) resulting in overall development

  • Think in pictures’, one of the core functions of the right brain is fully exploited in this program leading to photographic memory.

  • BPA MAP advocates 200 minutes/week of practice with Abacus

  • 40 minutes/ day X 5 days in a week

Daily practice with abacus is vital

Advantage BPA MAP

  • As against weekend franchisee programs, the BPA program stresses on daily practice under the watchful eyes of well-trained teachers

BPA MAP v/s Vedic Maths

  • BPA MAP is a skill development program for the children in the age group of 5-13 in primary and middle schools.

  • Undertaking this program will supplement in Academics and help children to Excel in All Subjects.

  • Whereas studying Vedic Maths is to gather more knowledge about mathematics – one of the subjects in curriculum

  • All individuals can become a BPA MAP Trainer and academic qualification in Maths is not a must। Children in primary school can undergo BPA MAP and do not need to memorize anything। Whereas individuals, teaching vedic maths should be a qualified maths teacher and students should know the basics, principles and concepts of mathematics। Students need to memorize all the formulae। For handling vedic maths there are prerequisites and for learning BPA MAP the only factor required is interest।

Brain Power Academy conducted inter school competition in Chennai, Trichi, Vijayawada, etc.
